Profungos is a free and self-sustainable association created in order to approach people to fungi in nature.

Fungi are essential in ecosystems. Beyond it's decomposing ablities, fungi feed animals and associate to plants, creating an underground nutrient net that gives life and maintain even forests. Recent studies show the action of fungi cleaning toxic waste and heavy metal contaminated ambients without leaving traces: hope for a better future?

In Brazil, deforestation for pastures creation and the wood dealing, agro-industry, burnouts and other ecological problems put in risk the diversity of fungi population. To think about ambiental preservation is to think the vital importance of fungi as the basis of ecosystems and biodiversity.
